Project Description
Hydroelectric power plants need complex automated planning systems to regulate energy production. These systems benefit from a topological structure with reliable industrial-grade products and extra nets. The backbone of such networks requires at least two fiber optic rings for both connection and device backup. All these elements come together to provide excellent performance and high reliability with automatic operations, remote control, self-recovery in case of failure and advanced network management functions.
System requirements
The plant has its own specific requirements to meet the needs of advanced network communication. These requirements include:
- Must have long-distance data transmission capability.
- The network must be installed in stages and ensure that future additions are made easily.
- All devices must be highly reliable in order to complete unmanned tasks.
- An error in a single point of the connection line should not affect the data communication in the whole network.
- All devices must be able to withstand harsh conditions, high temperatures, high humidity and strong electromagnetic interference.

In this project, the system uses two different communication advantages to create a completely redundant environment. This means that if a communication line fails or shuts down, the other will overwrite the data stream on the network within 10 ms. In addition, EKI-7659C and EKI-7656C are powerful modules that can operate at extreme temperatures, making them ideal for any outdoor environment. Since the EKI-7000 modules have fast recovery time and industrial level designs, they can meet any requirement.

Result
 EKI-7659C and EKI-7656C are used for their very fast recovery times (<10ms) and their high reliability and durability. Once installed, the system will have the following characteristics:
- Real-time capabilities: This solution provides full-duplex fiber optic Ethernet with 100Mbps, which increases the ability to process in real time and accelerates data transmission and minimizes communication disagreement.
- High reliability: Redundant network structures provide the flexibility of the network. If any connection to the loop fails, the system may return to normal operation in less than 10 ms. In addition, the design of the double-ring network protects communication during failure of any switch. In addition, the high quality industrial network switches used are stable in harsh conditions and the average time between failures (MTBF) is more than 200,000 hours.
- High security: In order to ensure safety, different sub-stations are separated by VLAN partitioning. In addition, closing the connector or unused ports between the device and the port increases network security.
